About us

The house that took twelve years.

And the people who live with it every day.

Cédric and Gaston at the dining table in Maison Campagnard, Teuven

I'm Cédric. Born in '89, raised in Sint-Pietersvoeren, ten minutes from where you'd be staying. A builder by trade: bricklaying, electrics, the whole package, through Levaux Bouw. From this region, born and bred.

I bought this house in 2014. It was no gem: hardly a roof worth the name, crooked walls, a kitchen that was more history than kitchen. But it stood in the right spot, and I'd known for years what I wanted to do with it.

Twelve years later, after a great many weekends, a few breaks because life had other plans, and every pair of hands I had plus those of my friends, the house I had in my head is standing here. Completely stripped and rebuilt from scratch: energy-efficient, spacious, new on the inside but familiar on the outside.

We turned the tree that used to stand in front of the house into an outdoor table. And somewhere in the house hangs an old photo of how it once looked. See if you can find it.

My aim with Maison Campagnard is simple: to let you feel Voeren the way I know it. Not the tourist version, but the real one.

Welcome to my house. Cédric

What we promise

Not a five-star hotel. A home.

  • ✓We're often nearby. If anything comes up, we're there quickly.
  • ✓No key boxes or machines. We'd rather hand over the keys ourselves and say hello.
  • ✓The house is finished, but we keep tinkering with it. We take guests' suggestions seriously.
  • ✓We don't promise a five-star hotel. We do promise a house where you'll feel at home.
The rest of the gang

Because he doesn't do it on his own.

Silke

My partner. The story behind the words is hers, and so is this website. She sometimes welcomes guests when I'm out on a building site.

Julien & Gaston

Julien (2015) is Silke's: he came into my life as a toddler, right in the middle of the renovation. Bonus points for a bonus dad. He was up on the scaffolding before he properly knew what scaffolding was. Gaston (2023) is ours together, arrived in his car seat in between jobs, and now bounces around as if he did it all himself.

Frieda

Our black Labrador. Cuddles, plays, and eats anything that falls on the floor. She doesn't roam free while you're staying, but she's part of the reason your dog is very welcome too.

Cédric

Built this house with his own hands. Builder, born and raised in the region. Likes to hand over the keys in person.
